FAQs

Post Brexit rules with regards to pet travel changed on the 1st January 2021. This means that UK issued pet passports are no longer valid. The only way to travel with your pet to the EU is to have an AHC or an EU issued passport.
Your pet must have a microchip and a valid rabies vaccination. The rabies vaccine must have been given at least 21 days prior to travel. Proof of rabies vaccine must be provided. The easiest way to obtain this is to ask your vet for the medical history from the day they had the vaccination. This document must include: microchip number, the date of vaccination, the vaccination brand and batch number. Don’t worry – we will check all of these details!
The routine annual vaccines are not required for travel to the EU. However, we would strongly advise that these are kept up to date so that your pet stays healthy.
The AHC is valid for 4 months of onward travel through the EU. If you return to the UK within this time, you will need another AHC to return to the EU.
For travel to these countries, you will need an AHC appointment within 5 days of travel rather than the usual 10 days because they require tapeworm treatment to be administered before entry. We can provide this treatment for you.
Your dog will need a tapeworm treatment within 1-5 days of your return to the UK. You will need to visit a vet in the EU to administer this and record it in the AHC. If you are leaving and returning to the UK within 5 days of your appointment with us, we can administer the tapeworm tablet for you.

If you have an EU issued pet passport, you can use this for travel between the UK and EU. The latest rabies vaccination entry must have been administered by an EU vet, or the passport will not be valid.

For travel to countries outside of the EU (other than the UK) you may need different documents or tests. It is your responsibility to ensure your travel documents are correct. Visit gov.uk for more information.

The AHC can still be issued if you are not travelling with your pet but you must be arriving within 5 days of your pet. We need to know who is accompanying your pet for the AHC.

AHC for 1 animal: £200.00 (Sussex) £250.00 (London)
AHC per additional animal £30.00
AHC for repeat visits: 10% discount per visit
